I believe in loving the life you're living.
Join me as I share my so city lifestyle.

I moved to Philly without ideas or expectations, and I've learned more than I ever imagined I would.

I want you to feel empowered to travel, to experience places in a local sort of way, to feel less intimidated and more confident.

MY STORY

I moved from a 1,800 ft2 home in the 'burbs to a 405 ft2 studio apartment in the city.
Just me and my black lab, Sterling.
I've never looked back.

I'm 33 and living in the middle of Philadelphia, PA.

Let's talk about how I got to Philly:

Growing up in the fairly small, coastal town, Wilmington, NC, I always loved the idea of living in the middle of a big city.

I spent my 20s bopping around my home state, attending undergrad and graduate school for Speech Pathology.

At 29, I bought the cutest home in Greensboro, NC - a home built in 1943 that was move-in ready but had lots of opportunity for improvement.

I started an Instagram account in February 2020 as a "virtual scrapbook" of the home projects I'd undertaken. My love for DIY grew as I renovated bathrooms, updated fixtures and built fences.

Two years later, single and bored, I decided to quit my job, find a new one and finally pursue my dream of "living in the middle of a big city". I sold my home and most of the things I owned, packed my 2012 Toyota Corolla and drove through the night with my black lab, Sterling.

Philly quickly began to feel like home for both Sterling and me. My Instagram account continued to grow and evolve, with a rebrand from the previous name "PeopleOnPeebles" to "GirlGoneCity". I began sharing small-space-living tips and tricks while organizing my studio apartment and found enjoyment in documenting my adventures around the city.

I'm so glad you've found Girl Gone City. It's been such a fun way to document all the new experiences of living in the middle of the city. I'm literally living my dream - thanks for joining me in the adventure.

Girl Gone City has become a way to connect with wonderful people like you, from Philadelphia and from across the world.
